Go ahead, take a guess. Everyone else does. This hybrid squirrel/ ferret/prairie dog/beaver-looking creature, is actually a marmot It belongs to the squirrel family, but is more commonly known as a groundhog or woodchuck. And unlike cousin Punxsutawney Phil, this guy was found enjoying this orange in Colorado. He looks like he’s got all he needs for his good day. When people see him they start smiling and then they try to name what type of creature he might be. Other prairie animals are probably thankful to know this furry fellow because he warns of impending danger and even has an escape plan that other animals take advantage of. Often on the lookout, the marmot will whistle a warning when a predator is closing in, and with his underground railroad system of elaborate burrows dug beneath the earth, avoiding the clutches of danger is a regular necessity in his neighborhood. You can tell by his claws, he is a great digger and quite the orange peeler.
