Mother and child in the painting were found on the boardwalk at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Naples, Florida. They scampered down the boardwalk for quite some time before finally climbing a tree to safety. Some people don’t like raccoons, but many, many others do! I hear animated stories from eager story tellers passing through my tent at art shows delighting about how as a child they had raised raccoons. Some adventurous souls even recount sleeping with them in their beds! I think they are just so beautiful, smart and cleaver creatures. They always seem to know how to steal my granola bars when I’m camping. I suppose when you are born looking like a masked bandit, you may attempt a few shenanigans.
