The American Goldfinch is one of my favorite birds. It is so active and acrobatic as it balances on thistles, dandelions, and other plants to pluck seeds. They are found all over my home state of Wisconsin, especially in meadows. They are native to Florida as well, but by the time they migrate to Southern Florida for winter, they don their winter colors which are much duller than the bright breeding colors depicted. Luring your “Favorite Too” may require planting native thistles and milkweed in your garden. The bee and goldfinch both love thistles, but then again they both love wearing black and gold.
