These two hooded mergansers were swimming off my backyard. They are a family-oriented duck often swimming in groups. It’s fun to watch as they dive for fish, crayfish, and other food. They usually go into a “wing flapping” ritual where they rise high out of the water showing their beautiful chest colors adding to the viewer’s amusement.
