What a fun bird to watch as the sun comes up. These little owls have so many different head and feet maneuvers that you can’t help but chuckle as you watch them playfully interact. They frequently stand on one foot then the other, or they cock their heads in various directions, and you wonder if you are observing a form of bird body language or if quite possibly they are “Doing the Hoakie Pokie”. After all, they nearly rotate their heads an impressive 360 degrees! But the most captivating feature of these creatures, are their eyes. Their enchanting eyes can undoubtedly evoke unique emotions from any quiet observer. On this particular outing, I could see the sun’s beaming resurrection reflected in this owl’s eyes, which is why I titled him “Sunrise”.
